Nollywood’s AGN Launches Asset Recovery Panel to Reclaim Lost Properties

Abuja: The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), the umbrella body for professional screen actors in Nigeria’s Nollywood industry, has established the AGN Asset Recovery Panel. This initiative aims to recover and protect the guild’s assets that have been lost or mismanaged over the years.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dr Emeka Rollas, the AGN National President, introduced the three-member panel during an interactive session with the guild’s Board of Trustees (BOT) in Abuja. The session was held to also present the guild’s new national secretariat to the BOT. The Asset Recovery Panel is chaired by Onwurah Ifeanyi, with Garba Muazu serving as Secretary and Sydney Diala as a member.

The panel’s primary objective is to recover and safeguard the guild’s assets that have ended up in ‘wrong hands’ and to prevent future misappropriations. Dr Rollas highlighted that over the past two decades, the guild has lost several assets, including vehicles, offices, and equipment, due to mismanagement or wrongful appropriation by past leaders. The panel will work with government agencies such as the Police, EFCC, and ICPC to trace, identify, and recover these assets, thereby enhancing accountability and integrity within the AGN.

Dr Rollas, who is in his final term as AGN President, acknowledged the BOT’s support in setting up a National Electoral Committee (AGNEC) to oversee the next national election. He expressed gratitude for the BOT’s unwavering support, which has allowed him and his team to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

In his tenure, Dr Rollas has focused on fostering unity within the guild, healing divisions, and enhancing the guild’s visibility both nationally and internationally. He also introduced a retail health management plan to provide affordable healthcare to members and launched the AGN Super App, which offers rewards and access to essential information for members.

BOT Secretary Sonny McDon praised Dr Rollas and his team for their dedication to improving the guild, acknowledging their achievements and expressing the BOT’s continued support for the current administration. McDon emphasized that the efforts of Dr Rollas and his team have exceeded expectations, reaffirming the BOT’s pride in their accomplishments.
