NGO Urges Stakeholders to Co-Create Pathways for Community Empowerment

Abuja: The Nigeria Women Economic Development (NigWED), an NGO, has called upon stakeholders to collaboratively develop practical methods to empower individuals, strengthen communities, and enhance international cooperation. Dr. Lugard Okonobo, Director-General of NigWED, made this appeal during a stakeholders’ interactive meeting focused on leveraging the Nigeria-Germany Transformation Hub (NGTH) Social Enterprise Projects in Nigeria.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Okonobo emphasized the responsibility of stakeholders from government, civil society, the private sector, diaspora groups, and international partners in building an inclusive and sustainable future. He highlighted the significance of the ‘Nigeria-Germany Transformation Hub’, describing it as a dynamic social enterprise platform that exemplifies the potential of innovation, bilateral partnership, and community-centered development.

Okonobo stressed the necessity of involving women, youths, persons with disabilities, and marginalized communities to achieve gender and social inclusion, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals. He advocated for Safe and Legal Migration Pathways as a choice rather than a necessity driven by desperation, underscoring the successful cooperation between Nigeria and Germany in achieving transformative goals through cooperative diplomacy.

Alhaji Suleiman Aminu, Chairman of NGTH, highlighted the event as a platform for building partnerships, sharing ideas, and exploring the role of social enterprises in driving innovation and promoting sustainable development in Nigeria. Aminu, who also serves as the National Coordinator/Founder of Tinubu Support Group, encouraged participants to engage fully to ensure that international relations yield tangible impacts on the population.

Aminu also addressed the importance of sustainable agricultural development and nutrition in combating hunger and achieving food sovereignty. He called for empowering rural communities and promoting sustainable livelihoods for farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs. Additionally, he emphasized the role of intercultural exchange through arts and sports in fostering mutual understanding, healing divisions, and promoting peace.

Mr. Ambrose Okojie, President of NGTH, expressed hope that the event would renew a shared commitment to cross-sectoral, cross-border, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. He urged participants to use the platform as a launchpad for changing narratives within Nigeria’s ecosystem.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that a key highlight of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between NGTH and the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN).
