Nigeria Can Tackle Security Challenges with Advanced Technology: Echefu

Abuja: A security expert, Dr. Bright Echefu, has asserted that through innovation and advanced technology, Nigeria is capable of addressing its security challenges. Echefu, who serves as the Chairman of the EIB Group, made these remarks during a media tour of the company’s security facilities.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the company provides intelligence support to Nigeria’s security agencies through digital forensics, tracking, and critical assets, as well as the supply of combat and surveillance drones. EIB Group manufactures Arginin Reconnaissance Drones, which are configured for high-performance reconnaissance and surveillance missions. The company also produces Arsenio BFLY and Xander Reconnaissance drones, among other precise attack drones designed to navigate challenging environments.

Echefu emphasized the importance of these systems in combating insurgent groups, adapting different drones for reconnaissance and attack missions. He stated that the primary goal was to demonstrate the capabilities of the security apparatus deployed to fight insurgency. The equipment’s potential to enhance counter-insurgency operations and mitigate threats posed by insurgent groups was highlighted as a significant effort to improve intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities.

The tools are also expected to enhance force protection and reduce troop casualties by minimizing reliance on manned reconnaissance missions. Echefu noted that the use of commercial drones by insurgent groups presents significant challenges for security forces. To address this, the security apparatus is leveraging technologies like drone detection and jamming systems, improved intelligence gathering, and counter-drone systems. These technologies aim to generate insights from collected data, allowing for better decision-making and improved resource allocation.

Echefu further stated that with the right support and increased investment, indigenous companies have the capacity to provide the necessary logistics support to the military in the fight against insecurity. He acknowledged the government’s support for indigenous security firms and called for more policies to foster the growth of Nigerian companies, particularly in the defense and security sector.

He highlighted the ongoing local production efforts across various sectors in Nigeria, noting that many local companies are investing heavily. He affirmed that the Nigerian military strongly supports local manufacturers through research collaboration and support, asserting that Nigeria has the capacity to address its security challenges with the number of local companies involved in these efforts.
