Buhari’s Fan Pledges N1m to Grave Diggers of Late Ex-President

Katsina: A fan of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Sirajo Yazid-Abukur, has pledged N1 million to the laborers responsible for digging the grave where the ex-president was laid to rest at his Daura residence. Yazid-Abukur, who serves as the Managing Director of the Katsina State Roads Maintenance Agency (KASSROMA), made this announcement in Katsina following the circulation of a viral video featuring the laborers.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the financial promise includes N500,000 allocated to the team leader of the grave diggers, Malam Muhammad Ali, while the two other members will each receive N250,000. Yazid-Abukur expressed his intent for the funds to serve as capital for the laborers, enabling them to establish businesses that could support them and their families.

In addition to his financial pledge, Yazid-Abukur commended Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State for the concern he demonstrated throughout the burial proceedings of the late president. He highlighted the governor’s active participation in the burial as a testament to his loyalty and leadership qualities.

Yazid-Abukur also offered prayers for the late former president, asking for forgiveness of his shortcomings and for his eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus. The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that the former president passed away on Sunday in a London hospital after a prolonged illness. His remains were returned to Nigeria on Tuesday, accompanied by Vice-President Kashim Shettima and other officials.

Upon arrival at the Ummaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport in Katsina, President Bola Tinubu received the body of the late Buhari. The president, along with various dignitaries, accompanied the remains to Daura, where the former president was interred in his personal residence.
