Lagos State Unveils New Commercial High Court

Lagos: The Lagos State Government has unveiled the state’s newly constructed Commercial Court of the High Court. The court, situated at Tapa, Lagos Island, is set to serve as an institutional tool for enforcing physical and regulatory responsibility to the state and its citizens.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the new court as a significant development equipped with advanced technology. He emphasized its role in addressing economic barriers and business disputes, which is expected to foster economic growth. Sanwo-Olu highlighted that the court would usher in a new era of speedy dispensation of justice, with cases resolved within months.

The governor expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Lagos State Attorney General, Lawal Pedro, and the Chief Judge, Justice Kazeem Alogba, in enhancing the state’s judicial system. He praised the quality of judicial personnel, attributing it to a meticulous selection process. Sanwo-Olu also commended the initiative, noting that the integration of the latest technology would ensure swift hearings and judgments.

The Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Pedro, stated that the state government aims to utilize the judiciary to drive economic growth in Lagos through adherence to the rule of law. He mentioned that the Lagos State revenue court would handle cases related to the recovery of tax, levies, land use charges, and the prosecution of tax-related issues.

Chief Judge Alogba reiterated that the new facility would play a crucial role in the administration of justice.
