APC Criticizes ADC for Accusing Tinubu of Exploiting Buhari’s Death for Political Gain

Lagos: The APC in Lagos State has defended President Bola Tinubu against allegations made by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that he is using the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari for political gain. The party insists that Tinubu’s actions are a demonstration of loyalty and leadership.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Lagos State APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Seye Oladejo, issued a statement on Saturday countering the ADC’s claims. Oladejo condemned the ADC’s accusations as baseless and disrespectful towards Buhari’s legacy, which he noted has significantly shaped Nigeria’s democratic and security framework.

Oladejo criticized the ADC for attempting to exploit national grief for political headlines, emphasizing that Tinubu’s attendance at memorial events for Buhari represents a commitment to national values and leadership rather than opportunism. He stated that the ADC’s actions highlight their disconnect from the nation’s sentiments during this period of mourning.

He called for the ADC to issue an apology to Buhari’s family, the Nigerian public, and the presidency. Oladejo reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to governance and national unity, urging Nigerians to reject the ADC’s politicization of a time meant for national reflection. The APC maintains that they will not engage in divisive politics and remain focused on key national issues.
