Presidency Rebukes ADC for Criticism Over Buhari’s State Burial

Abuja: The Presidency has strongly criticized the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for its remarks regarding the state burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, condemned the ADC’s comments as opportunistic and politically motivated.

Dare’s statement described the ADC’s reaction to Buhari’s state burial as a manufactured outrage aimed at gaining political relevance. He further labeled the ADC as a political entity struggling for significance through attention-seeking criticisms and press releases.

The ADC had accused the administration of President Tinubu of politicizing Buhari’s passing, a claim that the presidency firmly denied. The government argued that it was the ADC, not the administration, attempting to gain political mileage from the former president’s death.

Dare highlighted that President Tinubu’s government is not seeking popularity through such means and emphasized that Buhari’s burial was conducted with dignity and honor, attracting national and international attention. He noted the presence of world leaders and millions of viewers, contrasting this with what he described as the ADC’s attempts to exploit the situation for political attention.

The statement also outlined key achievements of President Tinubu’s administration, including economic recovery, infrastructure development, currency stabilization, increased oil production, and financial revitalization through improved FAAC allocations. The implementation of a student loan scheme was cited as evidence of the government’s commitment to reform.

Dare questioned the ADC’s contribution to the nation, describing the party as plagued by internal issues and lacking relevance. He reiterated the administration’s dedication to its Renewed Hope Agenda and urged the public to disregard the ADC’s criticisms, characterizing them as desperate attempts for attention.
