Madam Joyce?Datsa, Director of the Volta Regional Sports Authority, has commended?the?Duamenefa?Foundation, development-agency?for its remarkable contributions to sports development and the promotion of youth sports in the region.?Speaking at the grand finale of the?Sixth?Duamenefa?Regional Football Tournament held at?Dzodze-Penyi?Senior High School on Saturday, Madam?Datsa?expressed the Authority's pride in the Foundation.??She highlighted not only its efforts in promoting sports but also its socio-economic interventions that positively?impact?young athletes across the Volta Region.??'As the institution mandated to develop and promote sports in Ghana, we are proud to be associated with the?Duamenefa?Foundation, which is actively involved in organizing, discovering, nurturing, and developing the talents of our youth, allowing them to showcase their hidden potential,' she said.?Madam?Datsa?further acknowledged the National Sports Authority's recognition of?Duamenefa?Foundation's sports programs, which have elevated the tournament to a regional status for several reasons:??She noted that sports have become a unifying force, bringing people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and traditions together?citing the Ghana?National football team, the Black Stars, she emphasized how sports foster unity.?Madam?Datsa?pointed out that globally, sports have evolved from mere recreational activities into a multi-million-dollar industry?with?international?competitions?bringing?significant economic benefits to their countries.??'Sports not only contribute to personal growth but also drive economic development.'?She stressed that sports serve?to?engage the youth, steering them away from the streets and channeling their energies into productive activities?and by?'training young people to develop their athletic skills, they are better equipped to build successful careers while contributing to the nation's development, rather than turning to crime or idleness.'?Madam?Datsa?praised the?Duamenefa?Foundation for embraci ng these principles and creating a wide range of socio-economic initiatives that?benefit?the region.??She mentioned several programs the Foundation has undertaken, including skills empowerment training for single parents, hospital support projects, vocational training for the vulnerable, and apprenticeship programs in arc welding.???Additionally, she highlighted the ongoing construction of the?Duamenefa?Vocational School, which offers free training, as well as a hostel facility for students, and the Foundation's support for overseas study programs and educational scholarships.?'Through its work,?Duamenefa?Foundation has become a symbol of growth and development in the Volta Region, using sports as a tool for positive change,' she?stated.?Madam?Datsa?extended her appreciation to other organizations, communities, groups, and individuals who have contributed to the success of the?Duamenefa?Foundation over the years.??She stressed that these stakeholders' collaborative efforts have brought the Foundatio n to its regional significance.?The 2024?Duamenefa?Regional Tournament, an annual Under-17 football competition, is organized by the?Duamenefa?Foundation with sponsorship from the Tanko Foundation and support from the Infinity Group of Companies.??This year's tournament, the?Sixth edition, was won by?Afornyaga?Striking Force FC from Afife in the Ketu North Municipality.??Madam?Datsa?concluded by reiterating the importance of ongoing support for initiatives like the?Duamenefa?Foundation, which are making a lasting impact on both the sports and socio-economic landscape of the Volta Region.?Source: Ghana News Agency
