Abuja: President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to two eminent Nigerians, Farouk Gumel and Tobi Amusan, for their recent international accomplishments that have brought pride to Nigeria. Tinubu’s message was delivered through a statement by Presidential Spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Farouk Gumel was appointed as the Chairman of Botswana’s Sovereign Wealth Fund Limited, showcasing his expertise and highlighting the global respect garnered by Nigerian professionals. President Tinubu remarked that Gumel’s leadership at this prestigious position will not only bring immense pride to Nigeria but also strengthen the nation’s reputation for excellence in global finance. Gumel’s role as Vice Chairman for Africa at the Tropical General Investment (TGI) Group, among other achievements, underscores his significant contributions to Nigeria’s efforts in food sufficiency.
Meanwhile, Tobi Amusan was celebrated for her remarkable performance on the international athletics stage. At the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Amusan secured a silver medal in the women’s 100m hurdles with an impressive time of 12.29 seconds. Tinubu praised Amusan for her relentless pursuit of excellence and her ability to inspire national pride through her achievements.
The president expressed his wishes for continued success for both Gumel and Amusan in their respective careers, assuring them of the government’s unwavering support in their endeavors.
