Abuja: The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, has approved the promotion of 18 senior officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to the rank of Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM). This move is aimed at enhancing the management capacity of the FRSC.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the FRSC’s spokesman, Mr. Olusegun Ogungbemide, stated that the promotion is expected to bolster the corps’ leadership and operational effectiveness in promoting road safety and reducing crashes on Nigerian roads. Among the promoted officers, three will proceed on retirement, including ACM YK Nadabo, ACM JA Akpa, and ACM P Okoyeocha, while the remaining 15 will continue in active service.
The officers still in service are ACM TL Bamigbayan, ACM JO Asolu, ACM AG Sanusi, ACM AM Hassan, CO Asom, ACM JW Toby, ACM I Abubakar, ACM AO Odeleye-Oladayo, ACM OM Ibirongbe, ACM E Odiete, ACM MO Olonusaye, ACM E SonAllah, ACM UA Ibrahim, ACM AR Aremu, and ACM JS Uduabba.
The SGF highlighted that the rigorous, yet transparent exercise leading to this promotion reflects the government’s commitment, under President Bola Tinubu, to strengthening FRSC’s management capacity. This development is expected to enable the corps to address road safety challenges more effectively and efficiently.
Corps Marshal Malam Shehu Mohammed congratulated the newly promoted ACMs, expressing that their expertise and dedication are crucial for the continued promotion of road safety and saving lives. He emphasized that with these promotions, FRSC is better equipped to achieve its goals and enhance the safety of Nigerian roads.
