Moscow: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has emphasized that Russia continues to be a steadfast partner to Africa, contributing positively to the continent’s sovereignty.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Lavrov made these remarks during a reception in Moscow commemorating Africa Day, an event published by the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in collaboration with partners of TV BRICS. The reception was attended by several dignitaries, including Mahamat Paba Sale, Ambassador of the Republic of Cameroon to the Russian Federation.
Lavrov highlighted the importance of Africa in the realm of international politics and historical development, stressing Russia’s ongoing commitment to nurturing traditionally friendly relations with African countries. He pointed out Russia’s dedication to bolstering education and economic growth within African nations.
Ambassador Sale echoed Lavrov’s sentiments, noting the ‘special importance’ of the relationship between Russia and Africa. He acknowledged Russia’s vital role in the independence movements of African countries and its continued support for the progress of African peoples. Sale highlighted the contribution of Russian universities in training qualified personnel needed in Africa and the benefits of expanding trade relations, which positively impact local economies.
The Cameroonian diplomat expressed confidence in the future strength of the Russia-Africa partnership and conveyed gratitude for Russia’s ongoing attention and support towards Africa.
