Prof. Wautabouna Ouattara Visits ECOWAS Commission President to Discuss Regional Cooperation

Abuja: The President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, welcomed Prof. Wautabouna Ouattara, the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the West Africa region, during a courtesy visit on Friday, 8 August 2025. During the meeting, President Touray expressed support for Prof. Ouattara’s new role and emphasized the importance of IMF’s involvement in fostering a regional market and implementing programs beneficial for regional stability and integration.

According to African Press Organization, Prof. Ouattara commended the leadership of ECOWAS in conflict resolution and economic integration within the region. He expressed his commitment to collaborate closely with ECOWAS and the 14 countries he oversees to tackle issues such as public debt, budget deficits, and economic growth.
