Abuja: President Bola Tinubu on Thursday emphasized the progress his administration has made in returning Nigeria to the path of socio-economic development. In a statement commemorating the second anniversary of his administration, Tinubu outlined the strides made in various sectors, highlighting efforts to diversify the economy and improve national infrastructure.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, President Tinubu expressed confidence in the nation’s ongoing transformation, citing significant advancements in the Solid Minerals sector. He noted a substantial increase in revenue and a shift from the old pit-to-port policy to a new value-added approach, attracting investors to establish processing plants. These changes aim to revitalize the economy and reduce dependence on traditional revenue streams.

The President also underscored improvements in the health sector, with over 1,000 Primary Health Centres revitalized nationwide and an additional 5,500 undergoing upgrades under the Renewed Hope Health Agenda. New cancer treatment centers and free dialysis services in pilot hospitals are part of the efforts to enhance healthcare access. Moreover, health insurance coverage has expanded from 16 million to 20 million people, with initiatives like the Presidential Maternal Health Initiative providing free caesarean sections for over 4,000 women.

Human capital development remains a priority, with initiatives to broaden access to quality education through infrastructure investments and student loan schemes. Tinubu highlighted the deployment of skilled personnel to underserved areas and the strengthening of public health responses through targeted social investment schemes.

Youth empowerment is another focus of the administration, with programs designed to provide access to funds, skill development, and employment opportunities. The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) plays a pivotal role, adopting a digital-first approach and launching initiatives such as Innovate Naija and the Renewable Energy and Innovation Park. These programs aim to drive industrialization, create jobs, and empower the next generation.

In agriculture, the President detailed aggressive initiatives to boost local food production, support farmers, and stabilize food prices through mechanized farming. Infrastructure projects, including major road constructions and rehabilitations, are ongoing across all geopolitical zones to enhance connectivity and economic growth.

Efforts to improve electricity generation include upgrading infrastructure and investing in off-grid solar energy solutions for various sectors. Tinubu also announced plans for the Motherland Festival, a global event to showcase Nigeria’s rich heritage and dynamic creative industries, underscoring the role of the Nigerian diaspora in national transformation.

Acknowledging the sacrifices made by Nigerians, President Tinubu affirmed his administration’s commitment to overcoming challenges and building a stronger, more inclusive nation. He expressed optimism about the country’s future, emphasizing that the foundations laid will benefit generations to come.
