Kiffa: His Excellency the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, received the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, today in Kiffa during an official visit. The meeting underscored the commitment of Mauritania to strengthen Islamic solidarity and contribute positively to joint Islamic efforts. According to Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the Secretary-General expressed gratitude to the President for his support, which played a significant role in his election as Secretary-General. He praised Mauritanian diplomacy and highlighted its efforts in enhancing Islamic solidarity. The Secretary-General outlined his strategic vision for the Organization, focusing on improving institutional work, performance, and its overall presence and effectiveness in member states. President El Ghazouani lauded the mission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, emphasizing the importance of its role in fostering solidarity among member states. He provided guidance for enhancing the OIC's performance and addressing common challenges faced by Islamic nations. During the meeting, the Secretary-General presented the President with a shield and a piece of the covering of the Prophet's sacred Chamber. These gestures recognized the President's efforts in promoting equity, solidarity, and expanding social safety nets in Mauritania. The meeting was also attended by Mauritania's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug.
