Phone Technicians Advocate for CCTV Installation in Computer Village

Lagos: The Association of Mobile Communication Device Technicians of Nigeria (AMCODET) on Thursday urged the government to install CCTV cameras in Computer Village to boost security measures. The appeal was made by AMCODET President, Mr. Kehinde Apara, during an interview in Lagos.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Apara highlighted the vulnerability of Computer Village due to inadequate security infrastructure. This concern was amplified by a recent explosion in the area, which resulted in injuries to several individuals. The incident occurred when a parcel containing an explosive device was opened in a shop within the village.

Apara revealed that AMCODET has engaged with other stakeholders to enhance security and has proposed the installation of solar-powered CCTV cameras at the village’s entrance. He emphasized the importance of government support in preventing potential security breakdowns.

Additionally, Apara stressed the importance of self-security, particularly for phone technicians involved in unlocking devices. The association is implementing measures to require customers to provide evidence or consent forms before unlocking phones, aiming to prevent security breaches. This initiative seeks to safeguard members, some of whom have unknowingly handled stolen or controversial phones.

He also called for collaboration with security agencies and stakeholders to train association members on security protocols. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
