Morocco's House of Councillors and the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino) inked on Wednesday in Panama City a cooperation agreement to strengthen the role of the King Mohammed VI Library, inaugurated in 2022 at the headquarters of the Latin American institution.Signed by speaker of the House of Councillors Enaam Mayara, and president of Parlatino Rolando González Patricio, the agreement is meant to expand the role of the King Mohammed VI Library as a platform for communication between the national parliaments of Parlatino member countries, the Moroccan Parliament and their African and Arab counterparts. It also aims to promote Moroccan civilisation and culture and to enshrine common heritage based on shared values between the Kingdom and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. This new agreement, which is based on the clauses of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties on April 25th, 2018, also intends to strengthen channels of communication and cooperation on issues of common interest. At the signing ceremony of this agreement, which was attended by Morocco's ambassador to Panama Bouchra Boudchiche, and chairmaof the Andean parliament Cristina Reyes Hidalgo, Mayara recalled that His Majesty King Mohammed VI had kindly baptized this space after His august name, attests to the particular interest that HM the King grants to cooperative relations with countries of Latin America and the South in general. In this regard, Mayara, who is on a working visit to Panama at the invitation of Parlatino President, pointed out the House of Councillors' commitment to making the King Mohammed VI Library a symbol of Moroccan culture and a place of knowledge available to parliamentarians, academic institutions and civil society associations. For his part, González Patricio expressed his gratitude for the support of House of Councillors in the creation of the multimedia centre at the headquarters of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament, which proudly bears the name of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.This space is the crowning achievement of the both parties' bilateral and multilateral relations, leading to the launch of the Afro-Latin American Parliamentary Forum (AFROLAC), whose secretariat is shared between the Parlatino and the House of Councillors.Source: Agence Marocaine De Presse
