Okosun Assumes Duty as 21st Commandant of National Defence College

Abuja: Rear Adm. James Okosun on Monday assumed command as the 21st Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC). Okosun took over from Rear Adm. Olumuyiwa Olotu, marking a new chapter in the leadership of Nigeria’s apex military institution.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Okosun, in his inaugural remarks, expressed his commitment to building on the foundation laid by his predecessor. He commended Olotu for his transformational leadership, which he acknowledged had advanced the college to a higher level. Okosun pledged to continue this progress and emphasized the importance of maintaining the college’s mission in focus.

He highlighted the necessity of developing quality leadership to address the national security challenges facing the country. Okosun called for dedication and teamwork among the college community to achieve their shared mission and vision.

Earlier, Rear Adm. Olotu, the outgoing commandant, expressed gratitude to the college members for their support during his tenure. He noted the college’s pivotal role in the development and security of Nigeria, the West African sub-region, and beyond. Olotu praised the management team and staff for their integrity and intellectual capacity.

Reflecting on his leadership, Olotu stated that the college had not only continued the legacies of past leaders but had also made efforts to enhance its global standing. He expressed pride in handing over to Okosun, whom he described as both a colleague and a friend.
