OIC Secretary General Engages in Strategic Talks with Mauritanian Foreign Minister

Nouakchott: The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, engaged in discussions with the Mauritanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, at the Foreign Ministry in Nouakchott. According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the talks focused on exploring avenues for further cooperation between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. Both parties deliberated on strategies to enhance and expand their collaboration, while also exchanging views on regional issues and the priorities concerning joint Islamic action. During the meeting, the Secretary General expressed his gratitude towards the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, for his support and the diligent diplomatic efforts that led to his unanimous election as the Secretary General of the Organization. He also lauded the role of Mauritanian diplomacy in secur ing widespread support for his nomination and acknowledged Mauritania's active contribution to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Both parties expressed their commitment to further cooperation and increased consultation between the General Secretariat of the Organization and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to address the issues facing the Islamic world and fulfill the aspirations of the member states.
