Nwachukwu Retires as NDLEA Deputy Commandant in Ebonyi

Abakaliki: Mr Joseph Nwachukwu, the Deputy State Commandant of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ebonyi Command, has bowed out of service after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60. Nwachukwu, who began his career with NDLEA in 2001, was honoured at a send-off ceremony held at the command’s headquarters in Abakaliki.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mr Okechukwu Nkere, the State Commandant of NDLEA, described Nwachukwu as an officer whose contributions shaped the agency’s work in Ebonyi and beyond. Nkere emphasized the significance of Nwachukwu’s commitment, patience, and passion in ensuring the agency’s success. He noted the rarity of serving one’s country and retiring in peace, acknowledging that many do not complete such a journey.

Mr Ome Enyuche, the Deputy Commandant in charge of Drug Demand Reduction, praised Nwachukwu for his impactful service to the agency. He expressed that the gathering was a celebration of a successful career, highlighting Nwachukwu’s achievements.

In his remarks, Nwachukwu expressed gratitude to his colleagues and guests for the honor. He urged NDLEA personnel to maintain integrity and high ethical standards in their duties. He also prayed for divine guidance for the agency’s staff in their efforts to eliminate illicit and banned drugs.

Nwachukwu, who is married to Mrs Jacinta Nwachukwu, an Assistant Editor with NAN in Abuja, has served in various state commands of NDLEA, including Borno, Plateau, Kogi, and Enugu.
