NTAC Commends President Tinubu for Strengthening Nigeria-Caribbean Relations

Abuja: The Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) has commended President Bola Tinubu for his recent approval to strengthen Nigeria’s existing bilateral engagements with Caribbean countries. Dr Yusuf Yakub, the Director-General of NTAC, gave the commendation during the deployment of four medical doctors as Technical Aid Corps (TAC) volunteers to Grenada, an Eastern Caribbean country.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the NTAC director-general mentioned that the agency’s latest action aligns with Tinubu’s directive during his state visit to Saint Lucia last month. “Today we are deploying volunteers to Grenada, one of the East Caribbean countries. You recall that Mr President was in Saint Lucia, where he made a commitment to deploy support in terms of technical assistance to these countries. Today’s deployment is, therefore, in line with the President’s directive, and we appreciate him for his 4-D Foreign Policy Initiative; an initiative that is working for Nigeria and Nigerians,” Yakub stated.

Yakub further explained that NTAC is fully sponsored by the Nigerian government, projecting the country positively through its actions. He congratulated the volunteers on their successful enlistment into the scheme and encouraged them to embrace the spirit of humanitarianism in their host country. “The Grenadians are our brothers and sisters and, therefore, deserve the best of services,” he noted.

Yakub expressed appreciation for the volunteers’ sacrifice and assured them that NTAC would fully support their mission through airfare, allowances, and general welfare as stipulated in the country agreement. He clarified that the host country would be responsible for accommodation, utilities, and transportation.

Amb. Zakari Usman, Director of Programmes at NTAC, praised the Director-General’s dedication to the success of the Grenada deployment and commended the volunteers for their readiness to serve. Dr Esala Abene, the Team Lead of the volunteers, expressed gratitude to the President and the Nigerian Government for the opportunity to serve abroad. He promised to maintain high standards of professionalism and contribute to strengthening relations between Nigeria and Grenada.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the volunteers comprised specialist medical doctors and other health professionals.
