Lagos: The outgoing President of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), Mrs. Funmi Ekundayo, has projected a positive economic outlook for Nigeria, attributing this optimism to the government’s macroeconomic reforms. She made this assertion during her valedictory media parley in Lagos.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Ekundayo noted that the country’s reforms are beginning to gain traction and show results, highlighting the resilience of the Nigerian economy despite several challenges. She emphasized the need for sustained political will to ensure these reforms gain momentum and deliver a lasting impact.
Ekundayo also stressed the importance of good governance and a compliance culture to drive economic stability. She advocated for increased efforts to diversify the economy beyond its reliance on crude oil exports and highlighted the necessity of addressing insecurity challenges.
For emerging entrepreneurs, Ekundayo advised embedding governance principles early in their business operations to promote long-term sustainability. She recommended establishing decision-making protocols, internal accountability mechanisms, and maintaining good financial records to strengthen governance within organizations.
Ekundayo also pointed out the significance of conducting regular internal reviews and adhering to legal and tax obligations to avoid regulatory breaches. She emphasized the importance of having these structures in place, as they bolster investor confidence.
During her tenure, Ekundayo stated that ICSAN has championed good governance and advocated for policy reforms, promoting transparency and professionalism. She highlighted the institute’s role as a thought leader through strategic advocacy and capacity development.
As she steps down, Ekundayo expressed confidence in the incoming administration led by President Elect Mrs. Uto Ukpanah and Vice President Elect Mr. Francis Olawale.
