Kontagora: The Commander of the Corps of Artillery, Maj.-Gen. Zakari Abubakar, has declared that Kontagora and its surrounding areas are no longer safe havens for criminal elements operating in Niger.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar made this statement during a field demonstration that involved the test-firing of artillery guns at the Nigerian Army Military Training Area in Kontagora. The demonstration aimed to send a strong message to criminal groups in the area.
Abubakar emphasized that peace is the foundation of meaningful development and highlighted the collective responsibility to promote and sustain it. He stated, “Sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace.”
The commander urged troops to remain vigilant, professional, and proactive, stressing the importance of denying miscreants any opportunity to disrupt the relative peace in the region. He also called on residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing operations against insecurity.
Furthermore, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar appealed to religious leaders to continue preaching messages of peace to their congregations, asserting that peace is a universal language that must be upheld by all.
