Kunming: Malam Ali M. Ali, Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), has called for unity of purpose to achieve the developmental aims of the Global South Forum. Ali stated this at the meeting of the Global Media Think Tank Forum with the theme “Coordinating Development, Igniting Growth: Global South on the Rise” in Kunming, China.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Ali highlighted the shared quest of nations within the Global South for dignity, equity, and sustainable development amidst a rapidly changing world. He emphasized that the differences among these nations are integral to their collective strength rather than liabilities.
Ali pointed out the world’s growing focus on the Global South, with its diverse nations, cultures, and peoples. He stressed that the forum’s combined resources are crucial for reshaping the global order through equity, justice, and increased prosperity.
He elaborated on the strengths of different regions within the Global South, noting that Africa’s youthful population, Asia’s technological capabilities, Latin America’s agricultural wealth, and the Middle East’s strategic position each contribute to a powerful narrative of collective potential.
Ali remarked that the Global South, once viewed as dependent and marginalized, now stands as a beacon of resilience, representing the hopes and aspirations of a significant portion of humanity. He highlighted the role of regional organizations such as the African Union, ASEAN, MERCOSUR, BRICS, and the Non-Aligned Movement as essential catalysts for achieving development goals.
He concluded by urging the bloc to harness its collective resolve and work together to amplify their voices and create a more equitable, just, and prosperous world for all.
