Rabat - Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, and Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Mathias Cormann, signed a memorandum of understanding in Rabat on Wednesday, aimed at strengthening collaboration between Morocco and the OECD on new strategic priorities.Signed at the closing ceremony of the Morocco-OECD Country Program II, attended by a number of ministers, this memorandum of understanding inaugurates a new phase of partnership between Morocco and the Organisation, characterized by a more flexible and innovative approach, aligned with the Kingdom's strategic priorities. The new phase is meant to consolidate the achievements of the previous phases, while responding to current challenges with more targeted objectives tailored to Morocco's specific situation.Morocco-OECD cooperation continues in a dynamic of modernization and reform, with the ambition of supporting the Kingdom's economic and social development, while reinforcing its international commit ments.Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of the Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, stressed the importance of this cooperation, which is a multidimensional relationship initiated in 2005 and strengthened by the launch of the second Country Program in 2019.This cooperation, she added, has taken a new step forward with the integration of the economic dimension, notably through the creation of a Morocco office within the OECD's economic affairs department and the production of the first economic study of the Kingdom by the Organisation. This event marks the end of the Morocco-OECD Country Program II, which has focused on strategic priorities such as public governance, economic growth, investment and territorial development. It also paves the way for a new era of enhanced cooperation between Morocco and the OECD, focused on more ambitious reforms in line with the Kingdom's current challenges, thus confirming Morocco's status as a key OECD partner in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.Source: Agence Marocaine De Presse
