Kosofe LG Distributes Food to 5,000 Residents During Food Bank Initiative

Lagos: The Kosofe Local Government in Lagos State has donated food items to no fewer than 5,000 residents during its 10th edition of the Kosofe Food Bank Initiative. Mr. Moyosore Ogunlewe, Chairman of Kosofe LG, stated that plans are underway to extend the initiative to Kosofe estates and senior citizens in the next edition, further expanding the program and demonstrating the local government’s commitment to its residents.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the initiative is designed to alleviate hardship in the council area. Mr. Ogunlewe emphasized that the program, which began when his administration took office, will continue indefinitely. The initiative aims to reach diverse community groups, including the Community Development Committee (CDC), Non-indigene Coalition, Christian Association of Nigeria, League of Imams, and Widows Association, providing them with comprehensive food packages containing essential staples such as rice, gari, beans, and semolina.

Ogunlewe also expressed gratitude to residents for supporting him in the recent primaries. He stated that the unanimous election as the APC chairmanship candidate for Kosofe LG, securing all 25 delegate votes, reflects the collective satisfaction with his administration and service delivery. He extended his appreciation to party leaders across Kosofe LGA and Lagos State, promising continued commitment to the residents if re-elected.

Residents expressed appreciation for the initiative, highlighting its timeliness and impact. Mrs. Funmi Adeyemi, a trader and beneficiary, noted the relief it brought to her family and thanked the chairman for his dedication to the community’s well-being. Mr. John Olabode also praised the Kosofe Food Bank initiative, urging other leaders to adopt similar grassroots programs to address food insecurity in their communities.
