Kano Gets New NSCDC Commandant, Orders 24 Hours Patrol

Kano: Mr Bala Bawa-Bodinga has assumed duty as the new Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kano State Command. This announcement follows the retirement of Shafiu Abdulmumini, who concluded his service after a successful career.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the information was released by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Mr Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi. Bawa-Bodinga is recognized as a law enforcement professional with extensive experience. Before his appointment in Kano, he served as the NSCDC Commandant in Jigawa and held various strategic roles across Nigeria.

His previous positions include Chief Security Officer at the FCT Secondary and Universal Education Boards and the National Hajj/Christian Pilgrims Commissions in Abuja. He also led the Anti-Vandal Unit in Akwa Ibom, managed the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Department in Zamfara, and was Head of Operations for the FCT Command.

The statement also provides personal background information on Bawa-Bodinga. He originates from Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto State and was born on February 7, 1973. Academically, he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Hausa Language from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and has completed various professional courses both locally and internationally. Additionally, he has a Certificate in Intelligence Operations from the International Institute of Professional Security (IIPS).

Upon taking charge, Bawa-Bodinga initiated immediate 24-hour patrols and surveillance to protect critical national assets and infrastructure throughout the state.
