Lima - HM King Mohammed VI has positioned the Kingdom of Morocco as a "leading country" in Africa, said the former Peruvian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Miguel Angel Rodriguez Mackay.Morocco is emerging as a "hub of African geopolitics in the 21st century," Mackay told MAP on the occasion of the celebration by the Moroccan people of the 25th anniversary of His Majesty the King's enthronement. Thanks to the special relations maintained by the Sovereign with foreign Heads of State, the Kingdom of Morocco holds today a prominent position on the international stage, he emphasised, noting that His Majesty the King has also brought about "a smooth transformation" of the Kingdom, as demonstrated by the world-class road, rail, maritime and air infrastructures that have been set up.He cited the Tangier Med "mega-port," which has become "one of the most important geopolitical hotspots for maritime transport."Mackay also praised the Sovereign's far-sighted vision in strengthening Morocco's strategic position on t he world maritime map, noting that the success has been such that another mega-port is under construction in Dakhla. He further stressed that the autonomy plan for the Sahara has found favorable resonance and broad support among the most influential countries in the international system and the UN, qualifying it as "credible, realistic, and serious."Mackay underlined that the autonomy plan, which represents a peaceful solution to this long-running regional dispute, "eradicates any possibility of seeking a different solution based on intolerance, threats and conflict."Source: Agence Marocaine De Presse
