Ghanaian boxer Thompson Fosu is set to face Nigeria's Kabiru Salawu for the vacant welterweight West African Boxing Union (WABU) title. The bout scheduled to take place at the Old School Hall, Surelere, in Lagos on September 15, 2024, would witness the Ghanaian boxer attempt to win his first major title in his early career.Fosu has won eight of his nine fights, and with one draw, he hopes to extend his unbeaten run against a very solid 35-year-old Nigerian boxer who went pro in 2021.It would be the second fight for Fosu in Nigeria after defeating Sunday Ajayi in his first bout back in June 2024.The Ghanaian boxer was sublime in his bout against Ajayi which secured him a TKO victory and subsequently paved the way for him to contest for the WABU title. In an interview before his departure to Lagos, Fosu was optimistic about securing the title and urged fans to support and pray for him on this conquest.'The fight won't be easy, but I am confident to emerge victorious under the guidance of my coach, Er nest Ofori, who has been a pillar in my undefeated career,' he said.Source: Ghana News Agency
