Torgbui Akpo Ashiakpor VI, the Paramount Chief and President of the Weta Traditional Council, has emphasised the significant role that festivals play in enhancing socio-economic activities in society.He noted that festivals served as vital platforms for fundraising and creating awareness for developmental initiatives.Speaking at the launch of the annual Ehi Nutome Gali Za (Festival) at Adelakoekorfe, Ehi, in the Volta Region, Torgbui Ashiakpor underscored the importance of festivals in engaging stakeholders and government officials to address community needs and devise development solutions.He stressed the need for unity for development, pointing out that without unity, progress would be unattainable.'Festivals unite people and bring youths together. Every household and young person must embrace the festival's unifying spirit,' he said.Torgbui Ashiakpor pledged to collaborate with all, including chiefs and queenmothers, to foster unity and development at Weta and Ehi.He said the Weta Traditional C ouncil comprised four divisions and encouraged each division to establish its festival to promote identity for rapid development.Torgbui Ashiakpor also expressed appreciation for the hard work of Torgbui Dzeble Adukpo IV, the Dufia of Ehi, Torgbui Adela Adelakoe III of Adelakoekorfe, and their queenmothers.He urged them to continue to ensure the festival's longevity.The launch, on the theme: 'Rallying for Development,' was attended by prominent individuals from Ketu North and beyond, includingparliamentary candidates and representatives of the two main political parties.The annual Ehi Nutome Gali Za, which celebrates the production of gari, a staple food in the West African Sub-Region, would take place in the last week of September.Source: Ghana News Agency
