Abuja: The Federal Executive Council (FEC), at its third meeting of the year on Monday, approved provisional licenses for 11 private universities in the country. Dr. Morufu Alausa, the Minister of Education, announced this development while briefing State House Correspondents after the FEC meeting.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the universities approved include New City University in Ayetoro Ogun, University of Fortune in Igbotako, Ondo State, Eranova University in Mabushi, Minaret University in Ikirun, Osun Annex, and Abubakar Toyin University in Oke-Agba, Kwara. Additional approvals were granted to Southern Atlantic University in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, Lens University in Ilemona, Kwara, Monarch University in Iyesi-Ota, Ogun, Tonnie Iredia University of Communication in Benin City, Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management in Lagos, and Kevin Eze University in Mgbowo, Enugu State.
Dr. Alausa stated that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is committed to expanding the frontiers of educational opportunities and infrastructure, which is reflected in the approval of the new universities.
