Abuja: The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed Mr. Chinonso Obasi, a former National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), as its Deputy National Youth Leader. Obasi’s Personal Assistant on Media, Samson Ogunwoye, communicated this development in Abuja, highlighting the party’s efforts to build a formidable front as Nigeria’s political landscape evolves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Obasi has previously held the role of Regional Coordinator for the South-South and Southeast regions for NANS. He also holds the distinction of being the Pioneer President of the Nigerian Youth Union (NYU) and has represented Nigerian students at the 2014 National Confab.
Ogunwoye emphasized that Obasi is a seasoned youth development consultant and humanitarian known for his commitment to youth advocacy. Born on April 27, 1987, Obasi hails from Ebonyi and holds a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering. He is married to Hannah Chinonso, and they have three children together.
Obasi’s political experience includes serving as a member of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council in 2015, 2019, and 2023. According to Ogunwoye, his wealth of experience, professionalism, and strong youth following are expected to play a significant role in his new assignment.
The ADC leadership, previously under the chairmanship of Ralph Nwosu, officially transitioned to Sen. David Mark as National Chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as Secretary General, along with other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) on July 28 during its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja.
