Abuja: Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has assured residents that security agencies are working around the clock to ensure the safety of lives and properties during the Eid-el-Kabir holidays and beyond. Wike made the statement in his Eid-el-Kabir message to FCT residents in Abuja on Thursday. He emphasised that the FCT Administration would continue to maintain close collaboration with security operatives to keep Abuja safe and secure.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the minister expressed pride in the security status of Abuja, noting its reputation as the safest city in the country. He urged residents to remember the less privileged during the celebrations and to embrace the values of sacrifice, obedience, and faith exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim. The minister called for reflection on the deeper meaning of submission to the will of Allah and encouraged a recommitment to compassion, generosity, and unity.
Wike acknowledged the contributions of the Muslim community to the growth and peaceful coexistence within the FCT. He highlighted the significant role of their values and sense of community in the territory’s progress. Furthermore, he noted President Bola Tinubu’s efforts under the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ to alleviate the burdens faced by the people, recognizing the progress in infrastructure development, security enhancement, and social welfare interventions.
The minister pointed out the rapid development of the FCT, attributing it to President Tinubu’s support. Wike encouraged residents to pray for Tinubu’s health and guidance during this period of celebration. He announced that a series of completed projects would soon be commissioned, marking Tinubu’s second year in office. These projects span healthcare, education, agriculture, transportation, and other sectors, reflecting the administration’s commitment to delivering change and building a capital city that embodies the aspirations of all Nigerians.
