Abuja: The President, Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Oghogho Musa, has urged parents to nurture the dreams and aspirations of their children. Musa made the call during the 2025 International Children’s Day Celebration, organized by DEPOWA, in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, she emphasized that children are the greatest gifts to any nation and should be treated as such. She highlighted that within every child lies a dream, a destiny, and a divine spark waiting to be nurtured. Musa stated, “Every child deserves the chance to thrive, whether born in the barracks or outside the barracks.” She encouraged children by affirming their worth, intelligence, and potential for leadership. She also reminded parents of their duty to raise children who are educated and empathetic, guiding them with discipline and dignity.
Mr. Jimba Ahmed, a teacher from Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives (NAOWA) College, described the event as a meaningful experience for the children. He noted that the atmosphere and activities such as the march and recitations provided the children with stories to share and cherish.
Kazim Temidayo, one of the children who participated, expressed gratitude for the memorable day, thanking DEPOWA for the experience. She remarked on the importance of opportunities to showcase talents and build courage, acknowledging that not every child has such chances.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the event featured displays of talents and cultures, including a march past, spoken words, poems, recitations, cultural performances, and songs.
