Abuja: Former President Muhammadu Buhari has extended his congratulations to President Bola Tinubu on reaching his midterm in office. He has urged Nigerians to continue supporting Tinubu’s administration as it works to address pressing national issues such as poverty and inflation.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the remarks were made via a statement from Buhari’s former Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu. The statement highlighted Buhari’s call for steadfast backing of the All Progressives Congress-led government, emphasizing that reforms take time to bear fruit and should not be undermined by domestic political interference.
Buhari also noted that leadership is an ongoing journey and praised the current administration’s efforts to reduce poverty and inflation, which he acknowledged have had a significant impact on the country’s poorest families. He stressed that tackling these challenges should not be the government’s responsibility alone but also involve the private sector and citizens.
The former president encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful and confident about the nation’s future, advising that their expectations of the government should be measured. Concluding his message, Buhari extended his warm wishes to President Tinubu on his two-year milestone and prayed for divine wisdom and guidance in leading the nation.
