APC Chieftain Urges Politicians to Stop Distracting Tinubu Over 2027 Elections

Osogbo: Mr. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, has called on politicians to allow President Bola Tinubu to concentrate on governance rather than dragging him into the 2027 presidential race. Oyintiloye, a member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), made this statement while speaking with newsmen in Osogbo.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Oyintiloye expressed concern over the ongoing discussions about the 2027 elections, emphasizing that the focus should remain on addressing pressing national issues. He highlighted that the current administration, being only two years in office, should not be burdened with election talks at this stage.

The APC chieftain urged politicians to support the President in delivering good governance, a task he has been committed to over the past few months. Oyintiloye noted that some individuals are already positioning themselves for the Vice Presidency, which he believes is a distraction from the serious tasks at hand, such as maintaining a healthy economy, combating insurgency, and improving critical infrastructure.

Oyintiloye criticized political opportunists for creating unnecessary noise that could hinder progress, stressing that the 2027 election is still over a year and a half away. He called for collective support, prayers, and solidarity for the President rather than engaging in a power struggle ahead of future elections.

He reminded the public of the challenges Tinubu faced upon assuming office in 2023, including a troubled economy, a volatile naira, and unsustainable fuel subsidy spending. Oyintiloye praised the President’s efforts in tackling these issues and urged everyone to allow him to focus on his duties.

In conclusion, Oyintiloye acknowledged that through President Tinubu’s technocratic background, there has been a renewed sense of hope among Nigerians, which should not be overshadowed by premature electioneering activities.
