Uyo: An All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain in Akwa Ibom, Chief Don Etiebet, has welcomed Governor Umo Eno’s decision to join the party, emphasizing its significance for the state’s development. Etiebet made these remarks in Uyo while receiving the governor and members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who have recently transitioned to the APC.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Etiebet highlighted that Governor Eno’s move to the APC demonstrates a commitment to the progress and unity of both Akwa Ibom and Nigeria. In his past 24 months in office, Eno has shown himself to be a governor for all Akwa Ibom people. “I warmly welcome the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Gov. Umo Eno, and the PDP Family into the All Progressives Congress (APC). Their decision to join the APC at this pivotal time in our nation’s political history is a courageous and strategic step,” Etiebet stated.
Etiebet pointed out that this transition aims to strengthen the state’s connection with the Federal Government through Senate President Godswill Akpabio, an influential APC Leader. He praised Gov. Eno for his exceptional leadership and dedication to the state’s development, particularly in infrastructure, which has positively affected the lives of ordinary Akwa Ibomites.
He specifically commended the governor’s decisive action in reconstructing the long-neglected road in Oruk Anam, which previous leaders had promised but failed to address. This project is now receiving the necessary attention under Eno’s leadership, to the delight of the Oruk Anam local government area residents who view it as a significant step toward progress.
Etiebet noted that since taking office, Gov. Eno has proven to be a responsive leader, attuned to the people’s needs and aspirations. His consultative governance style and prioritization of grassroots projects have been evident. “His brand of inclusive leadership is what we in the APC welcome and embrace as we work to build a stronger, more united, and friendly Akwa Ibom,” Etiebet added.
He called on all APC members in the state to welcome the new entrants with open hearts, build bridges, and focus on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.
