Female Author Paula Pwul Reveals Shift from Law to Writing to Empower African Women

Abuja: Mrs. Paula Pwul, a former lawyer turned author, has shared her reasons for leaving the legal profession to pursue a career in writing. Pwul, who hosts ‘She’s the Brand Podcast,’ explained that her decision stemmed from a desire to help African women develop brands that can unlock global opportunities.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Pwul discussed her career transition during an interview in Abuja, highlighting her role as the founder of Afrocreate Digital. Through this platform, she empowers women to confidently express themselves online and build careers aligned with their personal beliefs. Pwul stated, “I believe that true influence starts from within.”

Pwul authored her debut book, ‘That Internet Thing You’re Doing?’, out of frustration with seeing talented African women doubting themselves online. She noted, “I knew too many women with deep expertise, creativity, and impact who were hiding in plain sight-posting but not positioning, creating but not converting, showing up without owning their voice or not even showing up at all. This book is my answer to that. It’s my way of saying: enough. You’re allowed to be seen. You’re allowed to be paid. You’re allowed to take up space-online and beyond.”

As a personal branding strategist, Pwul describes her book as a practical guide for building a successful personal brand online. It offers strategies for clarifying one’s message, building trust, confidently presenting oneself, and monetizing expertise. “Whether you’re creative, a professional, or an entrepreneur, this book will help you turn your presence into a platform-and your platform into income and impact,” she added.

Pwul advised African women to begin monetizing their expertise by identifying their core values and addressing common inquiries or problems they can solve. She suggested, “Create content around that. Teach, share insights, and build trust. You don’t have to have a huge audience; just the right offer for the right people. Package your knowledge into digital products, workshops, consultations, or services. And most importantly, position yourself as someone worth learning from. The internet is full of noise, but clarity cuts through.”

NAN reports that Pwul’s book, which was released on May 17, comprises 10 chapters and spans 285 pages.
