Abuja: Vice-President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to creating a more enabling environment for investors, leveraging industrial revolution to achieve a proposed one trillion dollar economy. Shettima made this statement during the 2025 Ota Investment Summit and Trade Fair in Ota.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the trade fair, themed ‘Industrial Revolution: Potential and Opportunities from Ota to the rest of the World,’ served as a platform to emphasize the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Represented by Special Adviser on Economic Affairs, Dr. Tope Fasua, Shettima described the agenda as a comprehensive blueprint for national rebirth, underscoring the belief that Nigeria must reach its full potential.
The vice-president highlighted the government’s dedication to fiscal discipline and a business-friendly environment, which he believes will enable private sector-led prosperity and job creation. He pointed out that the rebased Gross Domestic Product (GDP) illustrates the diversity of Nigeria’s economy beyond oil and gas, incorporating technology, financial services, and a thriving agricultural value chain.
Shettima encouraged Nigerians to collaborate with the government to initiate a new industrial revolution aimed at wealth creation and job opportunities. He also praised the Ota Investment Summit and Fair as a venue for building new partnerships and committing to a prosperous future.
The Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, emphasized the strategic investments and infrastructure developments that contributed to the success of the Ota Industrial Belt. He noted its strategic location and resources as key factors in its appeal for industrial expansion and its potential role in achieving the government’s economic goals.
Obalanlege highlighted the significant potential of the Ota Industrial Belt in boosting Nigeria’s GDP through manufacturing, foreign investment, and SME expansion. He viewed the summit as proof of Nigeria’s capability to reach its trillion-dollar economic ambition.
Dr. Kayode Bowale, Chairman of the Ota Chamber of Commerce, advocated for stronger private-public partnerships to enhance infrastructure and community development, urging support for locally-made goods to further national development.
