Abuja: The Presidency has dismissed social media reports claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu coerced prominent Nigerians to participate in an arbitration proceeding in Paris as false information.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, issued a statement addressing the issue. He emphasized that the arbitration proceeding is a private matter and should not have been publicized by the media. Onanuga clarified that the proceedings are entirely confidential and are not subject to public discourse.
The statement further asserted that President Tinubu did not compel any individual to testify either in favor or against Nigeria. Onanuga highlighted that the eminent Nigerians involved in the defense are participating out of their own volition, motivated by patriotism and personal conviction. The statement concluded with an expression of gratitude from President Tinubu and the nation for the voluntary support of these individuals.
