Abuja: The Senate has pledged a brighter future for Nigerian children, assuring them of the opportunity to reach their full academic potential. This commitment was made during an event marking ‘Universal Children’s Day’ at the National Assembly complex.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Women Affairs, Sen. Ireti Kingibe, emphasized the critical role that children play in the future of Nigeria. Kingibe highlighted the importance of investing time, energy, and resources to help children become the best version of themselves, ensuring Nigeria’s greatness in the years to come.
Margaret Oguntala, President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), represented by Dr. Felicia Agubata, reinforced the necessity of empowering children to build a brighter future. Oguntala stressed that education, healthcare, and skill acquisition are vital investments in children’s potential to create a better society. She urged parents to actively engage in their children’s development
and encouraged children to embrace education and skill acquisition with dedication.
Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP-Kogi) advocated for the digitalization of education, proposing the implementation of e-libraries and digital learning platforms to enhance educational efficiency and accessibility. Meanwhile, Sen. Neda Imaseun (LP-Edo) underscored the importance of preparing children to take on future leadership roles, while also calling for improved welfare and remuneration for teachers to ensure the delivery of quality education.
