SEDC to Harness Technological Innovativeness of Youths in South East: Lawmaker

Abuja: Cyriacus Umeha, a lawmaker representing Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constituency in Enugu State, has announced that the South East Development Commission (SEDC) will focus on harnessing the technological skills of youths in the region. Umeha, who is also a member of the House of Representatives Committee on SEDC, shared these insights during an interview in Abuja.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Umeha highlighted the commission’s intention to leverage the technological talents present in the South East. He pointed out the importance of developing the region by utilizing its inherent potentials and expressed optimism about engaging the youth positively for the benefit of the area.

Umeha reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to enhancing the region’s transportation infrastructure, particularly through the development of railways across the five states. He praised President Bola Tinubu for creating an enabling environment for development in the South East and assured that the commission would strive to meet its developmental goals.

The lawmaker also addressed the issue of unrest and agitations in the region, stating that the commission plans to tackle these challenges through job creation. Umeha noted that unemployment often fuels unrest, emphasizing the need for job creation as a solution to youth discontent.
