Lokoja: Prof. Alewo Johnson-Akubo, Vice Chancellor of Salem University, Lokoja, has hailed Archbishop Sam Amaga for the foundational vision behind the establishment of the institution. Johnson-Akubo expressed these sentiments during the university’s 18th Anniversary celebration at the Chapel of Peace in Lokoja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Vice Chancellor described Salem University as a divine miracle realized through the efforts of Archbishop Amaga. He highlighted the transformation of the university’s location from a forest into a thriving educational hub, dubbing it a ‘wonder city.’ Johnson-Akubo emphasized the university’s mission to cultivate global leaders and change agents in line with the founder’s vision, marking this as the core of their celebration.
Johnson-Akubo addressed the students, affirming that their education at Salem University equips them to compete globally as leaders and innovators. He urged them to adopt a forward-thinking mindset to impact lives worldwide, reflective of the visionary spirit of the university’s founder.
The Vice Chancellor encouraged students to remain focused, innovative, and courageous, advising them to be open-minded and receptive to diverse ideas. He underscored that the true essence of their education at Salem University is not limited to obtaining a certificate but includes shaping their mind, spirit, and future. Johnson-Akubo reminded them of the importance of resilience and the willingness to make sacrifices to inspire and lead others.
