Lagos: Rangers International Football Club of Enugu secured a decisive victory against Ijele FC, winning 3-0 in the 2025 President Federation Cup competition for Enugu State. The final match, held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, saw striker Daniel Onyia break the deadlock in the 27th minute, putting the Flying Antelopes ahead.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Ijele FC mounted a strong effort to equalize, but Rangers’ defense remained impenetrable. As the game progressed into the second half, both teams continued to exert pressure on each other. In the 75th minute, veteran striker Michael Uchebo extended Rangers’ lead to 2-0. The victory was sealed when Onyia scored again with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area.
Following the match, Enugu Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Lloyd Ekweremadu, expressed satisfaction with the tournament’s successful conclusion. He praised the contributions of the state Football Association, the media, and the teams’ management.
State FA chairman, Tony Ugwu, also commented on the occasion, assuring that the association would support both Rangers and Ijele FC in the upcoming national 2025 President Federation Cup competition. Both teams have now qualified to represent Enugu State at the national level.
