Niger PDP Candidate Endorses Governor Bago for 2027 Re-Election

Minna: The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general election in Niger state, Alh. Isah Liman-Kantigi, has urged the people to support Gov. Umaru Bago beyond 2027. Liman-Kantigi made this appeal during a press conference in Minna. He emphasized that the governor had performed well and deserved the continued support of the people to build upon his achievements in the state.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Liman-Kantigi disclosed that he had received several messages encouraging him to contest for the governorship in 2027. However, he expressed his decision to refrain from entering the race and stated his intent to campaign against producing a gubernatorial candidate from Zone A. He officially endorsed Umaru Bago as the candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial election, highlighting the need for Bago to complete the projects he had initiated.

Liman-Kantigi explained that his decision not to contest was based on a careful assessment of the current situation, urging others to support the incumbent governor. He also mentioned that his decision to concede defeat before the final results in the last election was in line with democratic practices observed in countries like America.

Addressing claims of potential influence by state government contracts, Liman-Kantigi denied any such influence on his support for Bago. He reassured that as a dedicated party member, he would work diligently to ensure that the PDP secures other electoral positions in 2027.
