NCoS Initiates NABTEB Examination Centres for Inmates in Kuje and Suleja

Abuja: The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), FCT Command, has launched National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) examination centres at the Medium Security Custodial Centres in Kuje and Suleja to benefit inmates.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the initiative is a collaboration with the NGO Shamies Unusual Heart Foundation. Mr Sylvester Nwakuche, Controller General of Corrections, emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to equip inmates with practical skills for successful reintegration into society. Represented by Deputy Controller General of Corrections, Training and Staff Development, Mr Olaranrewaju Amoran, Nwakuche encouraged inmates to seize this opportunity for personal development and a better future.

The Executive Director of Shamies Unusual Heart Foundation, Dr Sarah Abdul, acknowledged the partnership with NCoS and announced that 70 inmates have already registered for the examination. She urged them to make the most of this opportunity. Controller of Corrections, FCT Command, Mr Olatubosun Ajibogun, praised the collaboration and assured that provided facilities and resources would be used appropriately.

Ajibogun also called on NGOs, civil society organisations (CSOs) and well-meaning Nigerians to support the service’s mission of reformation, rehabilitation, and reintegration. Inmates expressed gratitude to the Controller General and the foundation, pledging to take their education seriously and appealing for public support in their reintegration without stigma upon release.
