NAHCON Reiterates Commitment to Pilgrims’ Welfare Amid Contract Dispute

Abuja: The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced its ongoing engagement with the Saudi service provider, Mashariq al Dhahabia, over allegations of a contract breach. NAHCON’s head of Public Affairs, Muhammad Musa, disclosed this development in a statement, emphasizing the commission’s dedication to maintaining contractual commitments since its inception.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Musa stated that NAHCON has consistently honored its contractual obligations, upholding transparency and accountability standards. On January 17, 2025, during a pre-Hajj visit after the Hajj exhibition, an agreement was established between NAHCON and Mashariq al Dhahabia to offer ground and Masha’ir services for Nigerian States’ Pilgrims. However, operational challenges were identified, specifically issues with Mashariq’s listing on the Saudi Visa Portal, Nusuk, leading NAHCON to supplement Mashariq’s services with an additional provider.

Despite these challenges, NAHCON’s decision to engage a supplementary provider was driven by the need to meet stringent Saudi deadlines and ensure uninterrupted service to Nigerian Pilgrims. The commission remains committed to excellence, transparency, and the welfare of Nigerian Pilgrims throughout this sacred journey. NAHCON is also exploring corrective measures to resolve misunderstandings resulting from potential legal actions by Mashariq al Dhahabia.

Musa affirmed that NAHCON’s actions are guided by the mission to provide optimum service to Nigerian pilgrims. The commission firmly rejects any attempts to create confusion or compromise the welfare of the pilgrims, instead fostering a competitive environment aimed at reducing costs and enhancing service quality. NAHCON remains steadfast in its commitment to contractual integrity and the well-being of the Nigerian Pilgrims, striving to operate with transparency and accountability despite allegations or attempts to undermine its mission.
