MTN Ghana marks cybersecurity month, assures secured digital environment

MTN Ghana has assured its commitment to fostering a secure digital environment for all stakeholders.

The company gave the assurance in a statement issued in Accra and jointly signed by Adwoa Afriyie Wiafe, the Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer and Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, the Corporate Communications Senior Manager, and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

The statement was issued to mark this year’s Cybersecurity Awareness Month the theme ‘living with Security’.

It quoted Mr Stephen Blewett, the MTN Ghana’s Chief Executive Officer in announcing the launch of the Month, emphasizing the critical role of cybersecurity in the organization’s success, stating, ‘in today’s interconnected world, cybersecurity is a shared responsibility’.

To protect the digital landscape and equip staff with the knowledge and tools needed for a secure online environment, MTN Ghana continually enhances its cybersecurity efforts to safeguard its digital ecosystem, he stated.

MTN Ghana is also collaborating wit
h the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications to foster discussions on the latest trends, threats, and best practices in cybersecurity.

The partnership aims to engage stakeholders in churches, mosques, and schools on topics such as managing misinformation, digital parenting, and online safety.

Mr Bernard Acquah, the Chief Information Officer for MTN Ghana, was also quoted in the statement highlighting the importance of cybersecurity, saying, ‘Cybersecurity is a fundamental aspect of living in the digital age.

‘At MTN, we are dedicated to empowering our community with knowledge and tools for online safety. Our theme, ‘living with security” reflects this commitment.

Mr Acquah encouraged participation in the Cybersecurity Awareness Month activities and stressed the need for proactive digital security measures to address evolving online challenges.
