Abuja: The Industrial Training Fund (ITF), through its various skills intervention programmes, has trained and empowered more than 29,000 Nigerians in 2024. Its Director-General, Dr. Afiz Ogun, announced this during the fund’s 2024 Performance Review Meeting and Merit Award Ceremony held on Saturday.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dr. Ogun highlighted that the Skill-Up Artisans (SUPA) programme, a transformative initiative of the Federal Government, is dedicated to upskilling, licensing, and empowering 5 million Nigerians annually. The initiative aims to equip artisans with skills that meet global standards.
Dr. Ogun emphasized that the SUPA programme reflects the government’s commitment to fostering economic development and improving the standard of living for its citizens. The focus on skill development is seen as a crucial step toward achieving these objectives.
The News Agency of Nigeria also reported that awards were presented to the best area offices in various categories, recognizing achievements in training activities and revenue generation. The Abeokuta Area Office in Ogun State was recognized as the overall best in training activities and as the best-performing area office for the year 2024.
