Kano: A 20-year-old housewife, Fatima Abdullahi, was brought before a Kano Sharia Court on charges of allegedly stealing food items and N250,000 in cash from her employer. The charges were filed on Monday, highlighting the case that has attracted attention in the local community.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Prosecution Counsel, Zahradeen Abubakar, stated that the incident was reported by the complainant, Yusuf Hassan, at the Hotoro Police Station on May 6. The defendant, who resides in Unguwar Uku, Kano, was employed as a helper in Hassan’s household.
During the court proceedings, Abdullahi admitted her guilt regarding the theft charge. In response, Judge Malam Umar Lawal granted her bail set at N30,000, with the condition that a surety, who must be a blood relative, vouches for her. The case is scheduled for a summary trial on June 19.
