FRSC to Impound Vehicles Mixing Passengers and Animals in Ondo State

Akure: The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ondo State Command, has announced plans to impound any articulated vehicle found transporting animals alongside passengers within the state. This decision was disclosed by the state FRSC Sector Commander, Dr. Samuel Ibitoye, after a meeting with members of the Ondo State House of Assembly.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dr. Ibitoye emphasized the need to address issues related to articulated vehicles as part of efforts to enhance road safety. He stated that the command is actively engaging in advocacy and collaboration with enforcement agents to tackle the problem of ‘mixed loading,’ where both humans and animals are transported in the same vehicle. The commander underscored that vehicles found violating this rule would be impounded and the drivers sanctioned.

Dr. Ibitoye expressed his commitment to seeking the support of the Speaker, Chief Olamide Oladiji, and other lawmakers to ensure road safety across the state. He highlighted the importance of collective responsibility, stating that road safety is a shared duty among all citizens, regardless of age or status.

Additionally, Dr. Ibitoye advised road users to exercise patience to prevent accidents. He urged drivers to avoid speeding, dangerous driving, and overloading, and to plan their journeys carefully while adhering to traffic rules. This, he noted, would safeguard the lives of all road users and contribute to a safer road environment.
